 Introduction

 In the early 2000s, I worked as a web developer. I was living in a predominantly white city, and I had never seen a black person before. I was working on a website for a company, and one of my tasks was to create a page for a black man. I never completed the task, and I never spoke to the man. I am trying to remember why.
Fast forward a few years, and I’m living in Baltimore. I’ve seen black people all over the city, and I’ve also worked on a website promoting black businesses. This time, I completed the task and spoke to the man. He told me that he loved the website and that it was his first time seeing a website that promoted black businesses.

Since the early 1600s, African Americans have played an integral role in the history of America. Despite facing many challenges, they have persevered and made significant contributions to the country.
In 1619, a slave ship, the Sea Venture, set sail from Africa carrying over 100 black passengers and crew. After being attacked by a Spanish warship, the captain of the Sea Venture decided to land the ship in the new world. The ship’s passengers and crew were captured and sold into slavery.
Although slavery was abolished in America in 1776, the heritage of colorism heritage continues to be felt today. African Americans persistently experience the detrimental effects of both prejudice and poverty. Nevertheless, notwithstanding these obstacles, they have attained several noteworthy achievements.

The Civil Rights Movement was a significant event in American history. It showed the world that African Americans are just as capable as anyone else and deserve the same rights and liberties.

During the 1800s and early 1900s, The black history of America; African Americans experienced significant progress in America. That time is often referred to as the “era of Reconstruction.” During Reconstruction, African Americans were granted citizenship, voting, and other civil rights. However, this progress was short-lived and was eventually reversed by the white supremacist regime of President Andrew Johnson.
From the 1940s to the 1960s, African Americans experienced another period of progress. In this era , African Americans were fighting for their civil rights and against discrimination. African Americans during this time also achieved great things, Examples of significant legislative measures during the mid-20th century include the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
However, during the late 1960s and early 1970s, African American progress was halted by the “war on drugs.” Riots and protests also marked this period.
Since the early 2000s, African Americans have experienced yet another period of progress. This time, African Americans are fighting for social justice and equality. African Americans during this time also achieved great things, such as the election of Barack Obama as the 44t president of the US and the legalization of same-sex marriage.

American history because it was during this time that black artists and writers began to be recognized for their work. This period saw the rise of jazz and blues and writers such as Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen, and Zora Neale Hurston.

Over the past two centuries, African Americans have made great strides in many areas of their lives, including civil rights, education, economic opportunities, and representation in the media and politics.

Despite these advances, there is still work to be done, and the history of African Americans in America is one of continuous growth and struggle.

From the early 21st century to now, African Americans have made great strides in their fight for equality and civil rights.
The early 21st century was a time of significant progress for African AmericansThe early 21st century witnessed notable advancements for the African American community. Barack Obama was elected as the inaugural African American President of the United States in 2008., making history as the country’s first African American president as office.
Obama’s election was a significant moment for the African American community, marking a new era of hope and progress. Obama’s presidency was marked by many achievements, including.
The passage of the Patient Protection and helped to provide healthcare facilities to millions of Americans, and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which cooperates to counteract the effects of the gender pay gap.
Obama also made significant progress in terms of civil rights, including the abolishment of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which allowed openly and the Hate Crimes Prevention Act in honor of Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. gay people to serve in the military, and which increased penalties for hate crimes committed against LGBT people.
During the Obama years, the African American community also experienced many lows.The occurrence of countrywide demonstrations and rioting was triggered in 2015 by the murder of Michael Brown, by Darren Wilson, a white police officer , which saw many of businesses looted and several buildings were destroyed and set on fire.

Despite these setbacks, the African American community has never given up on their fight for equality and civil rights. As the 21st century continues, they continue to make great strides in terms of social justice and political representation.
