Summer is usually when big blockbusters annihilate the box office. However, 2024’s summer is missing a few of those certain moneymakers. This year’s Summer Movie Preview is less like studios pushing out IP-driven products and more like they are taking some surprising risks for these months.
It could be because 2024 has already been filled with huge spectacles like Dune: Part Two, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and even A24’s Civil War. Even though Alien: Romulus, Twisters, Furiosa, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes are all franchise films that could go in any direction,
it’s strange to see a summer movie schedule with just one superhero film on the horizon, especially considering Deadpool & Wolverine will probably be one of the summer’s biggest releases.
